Research interests: Lie theory and representation theory: algebraic groups; finite groups of Lie type, Lie algebras, finite W-algebras.

I co-organised LMS Midlands regional meeting on representation theory in modern mathematics and the subsequent LMS workshop on representation theory in Birmingham 14–18 June, 2011.

I co-organised a meeting on "Representations of finite groups of Lie type and their subgroups" in Birmingham 15–17 December, 2008.

I organised an LMS/EPSRC instructional course on "Algebraic groups and related topics" in Birmingham 15–19 September 2008.

I co-organised a conference in celebration of Rob Curtis 60th birthday held in Birmingham, 20–22 September 2007.

I co-organized a one day meeting on "Reductive groups and their representations" at the University of Oxford, on 5 April 2006,
