Research

My current research is into the impact and spreading of micron sized liquid drops on solid surfaces. This work is industrially motivated by Kodak's interest in the ink-jet printing process.

The present work fits into our broader objective to develop a numerical platform which can simulate capillary flows in which standard approaches fail. Below is the outline of this research, please click on the link for more information.



• There are a cluster of situations in which the classical model of fluid mechanics fails.




• It has been shown recently that the standard approach to this paradox is unacceptable from an experimental point of view




• The only model to satisfactorily resolve these problems is the interface formation model.




• This model has recently been incorporated into a numerical platform.
