The Undergraduate Mathematics Teaching Conference is a working conference that provides an opportunity for lecturers and others interested in mathematics in Higher Education to share ideas concerning undergraduate teaching, learning and assessment. There are some plenary sessions, but most of the conference is spent in small groups working on briefs relating to undergraduate mathematics. Each group produces a report comprising examples, relevant arguments and recommendations. The reports are refereed by, and incorporate critical feedback from, other groups and form the major part of the published Proceedings.
As part of a working group, delegates invariably gain insight into current thinking at other establishments and a deeper understanding of the particular topic on which they have chosen to work during the conference. Delegates return from the conference with fresh ideas and an enthusiasm to put these ideas into practice.
Subject to interest, we are hoping to hold a working group for each of the seven briefs listed below:

We are particularly pleased to welcome Adrian Simpson (University of Warwick) who will be leading the working group 3, "Deep and Surface Learning in Undergraduate Mathematics".
The two plenary talks will be given by:

Delegates are invited to contribute to a presentation session where issues relevant to all aspects of undergraduate mathematics may be aired. Delegates are also welcome to bring posters. Abstracts of presentations will be published in the Proceedings.
(Provisional) We have lined up a visit to the recently opened Think Tank at Birmingham Millenium Point, followed by a dinner at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
