Birmingham Young Mathematician Colloquium
University of Birmingham, 13th May 2015
The aim of this Colloquium is to consolidate the network among young researchers and postgraduate students from all across the country, specially in the branches of Mathematics studied in our School - Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics, Applied Mathematics and Operational Research. The event will be divided in two parallel sessions (Pure and Applied Maths) each of them with plenary talks in the morning and short (20 minute slots) postgraduate talks in the afternoon.
Call for abstracts
Postgraduate students are encouraged to submit an abstract for a short talk. Funding is available for students of the universities in the MAGIC network, see below.

Local information
The colloquium will take place at the University of Birmingham, which is located about 2 miles from Birmingham city centre. The University is most easily reached via its own train station which is a short ride from Birmingham's main New Street station. Full campus maps and directions to the university can be found here. The School of Mathematics is based in Watson Building (R15 on the map).
All the talks will take place in Lecture Theatre A and Lecture Theatre C on the ground floor of Watson Building.
Participants are invited to make their own accommodation arrangements if they require it. Below, we list a few possible alternatives.
- Lucas House, University run accommodation (10 minute walk from the Uni)
- Renwick House, Inexpensive hostel like accommodation (10 minute walk from the Uni)
- Ibis Budget Birmingham Centre, Inexpensive hotel option (45 minute walk from the Uni; bus service also available, number 61 or 63)
